2024 Key Takeaways
A big increase in the number of Top Performers.
The 2024 Scorecard features more manufacturers than ever before, including 20 manufacturers who are first time Top Performers. The Top Performer page has been redesigned to better recognize manufacturers who are Top Performers in multiple tests.
Being a Top Performer in all tests is exceedingly rare.
Less than 6% of the models listed as Top Performers achieved this status in all reliability tests (TC, DH, MSS, HSS, PID and LID+LETID), and only four models were Top Performers in those plus PAN performance. The default Top Performer search showcases these four models.
Some tests were great; others have gotten worse.
PAN performance improved and the MSS and LID+LETID results continued to be strong, but the number of lower performing outliers in TC and DH have increased, as has the median PID power loss. And some modules had exceptionally high levels of UV induced degradation.
More Top Performers but also more failures.
66% of module manufacturers experienced at least one test failure, the highest percentage ever reported. The BOM-level failure rate also increased. Failure types included junction box related issues, power loss, and an increasing number of modules with delamination.
